General:

Our Manufacturing Engineer works in a lean manufacturing environment to develop lean manufacturing processes and spearheads process improvements for the manufacturing of highly engineered flow control components for the power, oil and gas, and water and wastewater sectors. The responsibility of this individual is to analyze manufacturing processes and investigate, determine, and develop methods to increase production while ensuring quality, safety, and cost effectiveness.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Applies techniques such as time estimating, standard time development, standardization, work simplification, advanced manufacturing methods, process development, routing preparation and the design and manufacture of complex tools and fixtures
  • Recommends, obtains approval, and lead changes in product design, methods, procedures, etc. to reduce costs and improve quality and productivity
  • Develops and implements layout of facilities and equipment and determines workflow for maximum efficiency
  • Investigates and recommends alternative approaches for manufacturing methods, processes and equipment and cost reduction
  • Develops and implements significant cost reduction and other improvements in manufacturing methods including inventory control, material handling, machining, welding, assembly, and testing
  • Develops routings of operations to fabricate and assemble parts in the most cost-effective manner to reflect best methods of production and equipment usage.
  • Calculates labor, investigates variances, and recommends and/or institutes corrective actions.
  • Establishes engineered time values for each operation and analyzes and summarizes trends.
  • Estimates and prepares quotes for the purchase and installation of capital equipment and additional tooling
  • Interfaces and consults with internal departments including factory floor personnel regarding product design, quality, labor, project status and safety
  • Plans and develops ideas, concepts, and tests new manufacturing technologies to reduce costs and improve quality.  
  • Evaluates new equipment, tools, and fixtures necessary to become competitive on a worldwide basis.  Prepares appropriation requests to financially justify this equipment.  Specifies, procures, and implements new equipment and technologies.
  • Liaisons with the manufacturing team by attending meetings and participating in the resolution of production bottlenecks and correction of manufacturing variances.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • B.S. Degree in manufacturing technology or industrial engineering with 3 to 4 years’ experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on site at the McKeesport plant and ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
  • Strong computer, analytical, and mathematical skills
