The Inventory Specialist will monitor stocking levels, verify orders, perform inventory movement, track and transact orders/shipments in order to meet customer commitments.  

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Receives, distributes, and stores products as directed in designated, secure locations.
  • Prepares and maintains records of materials received and shipped including dates of transactions, locations, and other pertinent information.
  • Reviews shipments for quality and accuracy; reviews accompanying documents for accuracy.
  • Confirms shipping details or special instructions; expedites shipments that affect the manufacturing process schedule.
  • Transports and loads materials, supplies, and finished goods (manually and/or using hand trucks and skids).
  • When problems arise, resolves issues with contractors or vendors.
  • Maintains consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock up to pre-authorized limit as inventory dwindles. 
  • Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.
  • Provides inventory reports to purchasing and operations management.
  • Conducts frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory.
  • Assists with periodic (at least annual) physical inventory audits.
  • Operates forklift truck when necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Good math and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Efficient time management skills.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
     

Education and Experience:
•    High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or other formal training in related field preferred.
•    At least two years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.  

 

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment
 

Typically, the employee may sit or stand comfortably to do the work. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.  However, the work also requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items.  The work involves moderate risks or discomforts requiring special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts or machines.  Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as: masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves or shields.  The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.
