The Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist will lead the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role will play a critical part in promoting a culture of safety, fostering environmental stewardship, and continuously improving EHS performance throughout the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

  • EHS Program Development: Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS programs and initiatives that align with the organization's goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations. Keep abreast of changes in regulations and assess their impact on company operations.
  • Training and Education: Design and conduct EHS training programs for employees at all levels to promote a strong safety culture. Ensure all employees are aware of EHS policies and procedures.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of workplace incidents, near misses, and environmental incidents. Analyze findings to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of workplace practices and environmental compliance. Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate controls.
  • Environmental Management: Oversee waste management and environmental compliance activities, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and engineering, to integrate safety practices into daily operations and projects.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records related to EHS activities, including inspections, audits, and compliance reports.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed of industry best practices, trends, and technologies related to environmental health and safety. Recommend and implement improvements based on findings.
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to address quality-related issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Observe all safety and ISO 9001/14001 Requirements.
  • Responsible for adhering to the organization’s code of conduct, time and attendance and all other company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental health and safety roles, preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar certification is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct thorough investigations and risk assessments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and EHS management software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment will vary. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs.

 

FLSA Classification:  Salaried/Exempt

Annual Compensation Range:  $75,000 - $95,000 (DOE)
