Business Need / Purpose of Role:

The Quality Engineer plays a pivotal role in advancing Trillium's growth, profitability, and reputation by developing and implementing robust systems that guarantee our products and services are designed and produced to not only meet but exceed customer expectations. This position requires a proactive approach, working under minimal supervision to identify opportunities for improvement, implement preventive and corrective actions, and reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).

 

Objectives & Measurement

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities: (results this role is expected to accomplish)

Including but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and customer service, to design, implement, and continuously improve the QMS in alignment with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Regularly review and update QMS documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with current practices and regulatory requirements, fostering a culture of quality awareness throughout the organization.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of processes and products to identify areas for improvement, utilizing data-driven methodologies and customer feedback.
  • Lead root cause analysis for identified nonconformances and customer complaints, developing actionable corrective and preventive plans that are tracked and measured for effectiveness.
  • Document findings and ensure that lessons learned are communicated across relevant departments to prevent recurrence.
  • Take the lead in investigating customer complaints related to product functionality or failures, ensuring comprehensive root cause analysis is performed.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and customer service teams to implement corrective actions, ensuring robust documentation of findings and the effectiveness of solutions is maintained.
  • Ensure that all quality-related documentation, including policies, procedures, and records, are accurate, complete, and compliant with ISO 9001 document control requirements.
  • -Implement effective document control systems that facilitate easy access to quality records while ensuring traceability and compliance.
  • Identify skill gaps within the organization related to quality standards and processes, working closely with HR and production teams to develop targeted training programs.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops to enhance employee understanding of quality standards, ensuring that training effectiveness is evaluated and documented.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process enhancements, efficiency gains, and cost reductions.
  • Utilize quality improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean to drive initiatives that enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Observe all safety and ISO 9001/14001 Requirements.
  • Responsible for adhering to the organization’s code of conduct, time and attendance and all other company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related Science field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or process improvement roles.
  • ISO 9001/14001/45001 Lead Auditor Certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in using advanced quality control tools, instruments, and software
  • In-depth knowledge of quality management systems, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements pertinent to the industry.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and CAPA procedures.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
  • Experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment and familiarity with industry quality standards and regulations

 

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment will vary. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs.
