The Machine Technologist at Trillium Flow Technologies, plays a crucial role in the production process, combining the expertise of a lead machinist with the technical skills of a CNC programmer. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines, as well as programming and optimizing machining processes to ensure the highest quality of our products. This hybrid role demands a strong understanding of machining principles, CNC operations, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering and production teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • CNC Programming: Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software for various machining operations.
  • Use Mastercam to reduce setups, utilized best strategies and toolpaths, maximize speeds and feeds, and assure programs meet all the print’s specifications.
  • Maintain programming standards including but not limited to proper file management, standards headers, standard naming system and saving back all proven programs to reduce setup and cycle times in the future.
  • Setup and Operation: Set up CNC machines and tools, ensuring proper alignment and calibration for precise machining.
  • Quality Control: Monitor machining processes to ensure adherence to specifications, conducting inspections using precision measuring instruments.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve machining issues, including equipment malfunctions, tooling problems, and quality discrepancies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and production teams to develop and implement efficient machining processes and workflows.
  • Training: Mentor and train junior machinists and operators on CNC programming, machine setup, and best practices.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of machining operations, including production logs, inspection reports, and maintenance schedules.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall product quality.
  • Observe all safety and ISO 9001/14001/45001 Requirements.
  • Responsible for adhering to the organization’s code of conduct, time and attendance and all other company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a machinist, CNC operator, or programmer in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code) and CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Camworks, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards in the workplace.

 

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment will vary. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs.

 

Compensation Rage:  $31.00 - $43.00 per hour DOE
