Business Need / Purpose of Role

The Senior Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical and commercial support for the selection, sizing, quoting, and application of centrifugal pump packages for Original Equipment (OE) projects. The role acts as the primary technical interface between customers, sales teams, and Trillium Pumps Italy during pre-order and bid execution stages.

The incumbent will review customer specifications, perform hydraulic and mechanical evaluations, develop technical proposals, ensure compliance with API, Saudi Aramco, and international standards, and support successful order acquisition for strategic projects across the oil & gas, petrochemical, water, power, and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities & Specific Accountabilities

Technical Application Engineering

• Review RFQs, customer specifications, data sheets, and project requirements.
• Perform pump sizing and hydraulic selection using approved engineering tools.
• Evaluate operating conditions, NPSH requirements, efficiency, and system performance.
• Select appropriate pump configurations, materials, seals, bearings, and auxiliary systems.
• Prepare technical deviations, clarifications, and compliance matrices.
• Ensure compliance with API 610, API 682, Saudi Aramco specifications, and customer requirements.
• Support engineering reviews associated with centrifugal pump packages and related rotating equipment.

Proposal & Commercial Support

• Prepare technical and commercial quotations within required deadlines.
• Develop cost estimates and coordinate pricing activities with internal departments.
• Participate in technical bid evaluations and customer clarification meetings.
• Support sales teams during customer presentations and project discussions.
• Assist in negotiation of technical aspects of contracts prior to award.

Project & Customer Interface

• Serve as the technical focal point for customers during the bidding phase.
• Coordinate with Trillium Pumps Italy engineering teams on complex applications.
• Attend customer meetings, kick-off meetings, and technical review sessions.
• Provide timely responses to customer technical queries.
• Build strong working relationships with Saudi Aramco, EPC contractors, consultants, and end users.

Continuous Improvement

• Maintain application engineering databases and selection records.
• Monitor market trends, customer requirements, and competitor technologies.
• Contribute to standardization and optimization of quoting processes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase quotation accuracy and response times.

Quality, HSE & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with Company HSE policies and quality management systems.
• Promote a culture of safety, integrity, and technical excellence.
• Support ISO, API, and customer audit requirements when necessary.

Education

Essential

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Preferred

• Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Rotating Equipment Engineering.

Experience

Essential

• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in pump application engineering, rotating equipment, or OEM engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of direct experience with centrifugal pumps and API 610 equipment.
• Experience supporting Saudi Aramco, SABIC, SWCC, SEC, or major EPC projects.
• Proven experience in technical bid preparation and execution of OE projects.

Preferred

• Experience with multinational pump OEMs.
• Experience coordinating with overseas engineering centers and manufacturing facilities.
