The Quality Assurance Manager is accountable for leading, interpreting, and executing the business’s quality program. This role operates as the site authority on quality, ensuring full compliance with applicable codes, customer requirements, and internal standards, while driving a culture of quality ownership across the organization.  Beyond oversight, the Quality Assurance Manager leads from a QA position—setting expectations, making quality-based decisions, and holding the organization accountable for adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS). This individual ensures that quality is not reactive, but proactively embedded into operations, manufacturing, and supplier performance.The role oversees the development, application, and continuous improvement of quality assurance and quality control processes for materials and finished products. When manufacturing or customer concerns arise, the Quality Assurance Manager leads root cause analysis, drives corrective actions, and ensures sustainable resolution aligned with continuous improvement objectives. 


Key Responsibilities (Including but not limited to)

Quality Leadership & Program Ownership
•    Own and lead the site Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with ASME, ISO, and customer-specific requirements
•    Act as the final authority on quality decisions, interpreting codes/standards and directing the organization accordingly
•    Drive a culture of proactive quality ownership across operations, engineering, and supply chain
•    Ensure quality is integrated into business execution—not treated as a downstream inspection function
•    Represent QA leadership in coordination with senior leadership and corporate quality direction

Execution & Operational Oversight
•    Review customer purchase orders, specifications, and engineering documentation to define and communicate requirements
•    Lead and manage the Material Review Board (MRB), ensuring timely and compliant disposition of nonconforming material
•    Establish, implement, and improve inspection, testing, and evaluation methods aligned with regulatory and customer requirements
•    Set priorities and direction for Quality Control resources to meet production and customer commitments
•    Analyze quality data, returns, and failures—driving root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
•    Partner cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, sales, and supply chain to resolve nonconformances and improve processes

Supplier & External Quality
•    Approve supplier quality procedures and certified material test reports to applicable codes (ASME, ANSI, etc.)
•    Evaluate and develop suppliers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with company quality requirements
•    Support supplier performance improvement and qualification activities

Audits, Compliance & Customer Interface
•    Lead and participate in customer and third-party audits, ensuring audit readiness at all times
•    Serve as the primary quality interface with customers, confidently interpreting requirements and resolving issues
•    Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and EHS requirements
•    Represent the Director of QA, as required

Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or technical discipline (or equivalent experience) 

Experience:
•    Minimum 10 years of Quality Assurance experience in a technical/manufacturing environment
•    Minimum 5 years of leadership/management experience
•    Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME Sections II & III, SNT-TC-1A, ISO 9001:2015, etc.)
•    Deep understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, NDE, materials, and testing)

Preferred Qualifications
•    Nuclear industry experience (NQA-1 environment strongly desired)
•    Customer-facing quality experience
•    Qualified NQA-1 Lead Auditor

The Quality Assurance Manager is not just a functional leader, but the site’s quality authority—expected to:
•    Hold the business accountable to quality standards
•    Interpret and enforce requirements without ambiguity
•    Lead from the front in quality decisions, audits, and customer interactions
•    Drive a culture where quality is owned by everyone, but led decisively by QA 

Physical Requirements
This position operates primarily in a professional office environment.
The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
•    Sit for extended periods
•    Use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone
•    Talk and hear
Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching may be required.
Minimal lifting (typically less than 10 pounds) may be necessary.
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

This role requires frequent visits to the manufacturing shop floor, when on the shop floor:
•    May be required to work near moving mechanical parts and overhead cranes.
•    May be exposed to moderate to high noise levels, vibrations, and varying temperatures.
•    Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots is required.
•    The role may involve working around chemicals, lubricants, or other industrial materials.

This role may involve occasional travel.
