Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer supports lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement efforts in the production of highly engineered valves for the power, oil & gas, and water & wastewater industries. This role is responsible for analyzing and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities (Including but not limited to)
· Analyze and develop lean manufacturing processes, including time studies, standard work, and process optimization.
· Recommend and lead changes in product design, methods, and procedures to reduce costs and improve quality and productivity.
· Design and implement facility layouts and workflows for maximum efficiency.
· Investigate and propose alternative manufacturing methods, equipment, and cost-saving opportunities.
· Develop and implement improvements in machining, welding, assembly, testing, inventory control, and material handling.
· Create and maintain routings for fabrication and assembly processes.
· Calculate labor standards, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions.
· Estimate and prepare capital equipment justifications and tooling requirements.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and engineering to resolve bottlenecks and improve processes.
· Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and equipment.
· Lead cross-functional kaizen events to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
· Develop and maintain standard work instructions and visual aids to support consistent production practices.
· Utilize data analytics and digital tools (e.g., MES, ERP, SPC) to monitor and improve manufacturing performance.
· Support new product introductions (NPI) by developing manufacturing processes and tooling for new designs.
· Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related issues using structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, A3).
· Mentor and train production staff on lean tools and process improvements.
· Participate in capital planning and lead implementation of new equipment and automation technologies.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- B.S. in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in a discrete manufacturing environment, preferably in engineered-to-order or valve manufacturing
Certifications:
- None required, but Six Sigma or Lean certifications are a plus
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in valve manufacturing or similar heavy industrial products.
· Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing software.
· Project management experience.
· Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
· OSHA 10/30-hour certification or equivalent EHS training
.Skills and Competencies
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
· Familiarity with manufacturing process simulation or modeling tools.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
· Demonstrated initiative and ownership of process improvements.
Physical Requirements
This position is based in a manufacturing shop environment and requires frequent physical activity.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

Lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
May be required to work near moving mechanical parts and overhead cranes.
May be exposed to moderate to high noise levels, vibrations, and varying temperatures.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots is required.
The role may involve working around chemicals, lubricants, or other industrial materials.
Occasional overtime or shift work may be required depending on production needs.
Compensation Range: $85-100K
