PURPOSE
As part of a Commercial Operations Team, the Application Engineer is responsible for engineered centrifugal pumps supply projects along the entire “quote to cash” process. The bidding phase includes hydraulic selections, technical alignment, cost estimation and ends supporting sales during the final negotiation with the Customer. Through project execution he/she is the main point of contact for the customer and remains internally responsible for time and cost keeping by interacting with all the teams involved in the project execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analysing Customers’ Material Requisition (MR) and project specifications.
- Identifying suitable pumps range and selecting the proper size having a performance curve suitable to fulfil customer needs.
- Interacting with the product engineering team to assess selected pumps curves on critical applications.
- Managing Customers’ “Technical Queries”, clarifications and deviations over project specifications.
- Supporting the technical alignment phase of the engineered subcomponents (seals & systems, drivers, lube oil systems, gears, control panels and so on).
- Selecting and valuing all the pump configuration options, to define the complete item cost.
- Preparing the “quote package”, including relevant attachments as per customer requests and internal procedures, for submission to customer though sales team.
- Checking coherence of POs received from the Customer.
- Launching and coordinating of the project starting from internal kick of meeting according to company procedures.
- Monitoring project schedule and KPIs to identify and drive proper corrective actions in case of any deviation from baseline.
- Monitoring project costs, checking both purchase orders and production orders, to intervene with proper corrective actions in case of variances from budget.
- Supporting Credit Control dept in cash collection, claims and financial forecast.
- Handling potential Change Orders from costs estimation up to quote submission.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICAITONS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of client-facing experience
- 3 years of Engineering and order process experience required.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
