Position Summary

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that Trillium’s suppliers consistently deliver high-quality materials, components, and services that meet engineering, quality, and delivery requirements. Based in Fresno, CA, this role partners closely with sourcing, operations, and engineering teams to qualify, develop, and monitor suppliers. The SQE serves as the key quality liaison between Trillium and its supplier network, driving root cause analysis, quality improvement, and supplier performance excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Qualification & Development

  • Lead supplier qualification and approval activities, including on-site audits and process capability assessments.
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier quality management systems for compliance with Trillium and industry standards (API, ASME, ISO, NACE, PED, etc.).
  • Collaborate with procurement and engineering to ensure supplier readiness for new product introductions or design changes.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Review and approve supplier documentation, including control plans, inspection reports, and certifications.
  • Verify that supplier materials and components meet specifications through inspection, testing, and validation.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with Trillium’s quality and material standards, including special process qualifications (e.g., welding, casting, NDE).

Nonconformance & Corrective Action

  • Lead investigations into supplier-related quality issues; identify root causes using structured problem-solving methods (8D, Fishbone, 5-Why, etc.).
  • Manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Support containment, disposition, and risk assessment for supplier nonconformances.

Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor supplier performance metrics (PPM, on-time delivery, SCAR closure rate) and communicate results internally and to suppliers.
  • Partner with underperforming suppliers to implement improvement plans and prevent recurrence of quality issues.
  • Champion continuous improvement through lean, Six Sigma, and advanced quality tools (FMEA, SPC, DOE).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with global sourcing, design engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure alignment on technical and quality requirements.
  • Participate in supplier development initiatives and cost-reduction projects.
  • Support customer audits and documentation requests related to supplier quality.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field required.
  • 3–7 years of supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or production engineering experience in a heavy industrial or flow control environment (pumps, valves, or rotating equipment preferred).
  • Experience with supplier audits, process validation, and qualification of foundries, machine shops, and fabrication suppliers.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and material specifications, casting and machining processes, and inspection techniques.
  • Proficient in reading engineering drawings and using measurement tools.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, API Q1, and ASME standards.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel 25–40% domestically (and occasionally internationally).

 

FLSA Classification:  Exempt/Salary

Annual Compensation Range:  $85,000 - $135,000
