Position Summary
The R&D Engineer II is responsible for executing research and development activities that support prototype evolution, concept validation, and mechanical analysis for emerging technologies. This role independently leads moderate-scope engineering investigations and applies structured methodologies, including Design of Experiments (DOE), to evaluate performance and inform design decisions.
The position collaborates cross-functionally with Product Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Sales to translate experimental results into actionable product and process improvements. As a key technical contributor, this role enhances testing rigor, documentation quality, and overall R&D effectiveness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute moderate-scope research tasks, engineering analyses, and new product development projects.
- Develop and implement test plans, ensuring structured validation of designs and concepts.
- Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies to evaluate performance and optimize outcomes.
- Analyze test data and document results to support engineering decisions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Project Management, and Manufacturing teams.
- Support prototype fabrication, assembly, testing, and data collection activities.
- Perform CAD modeling, drawing updates, and engineering documentation.
- Conduct engineering calculations, feasibility studies, and design evaluations.
- Prepare and present technical findings to engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and assist with experimental setup and troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements.
- Adhere to company policies, including code of conduct and attendance expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required)
Minimum Experience
- 2–4 years of experience in R&D, product development, or mechanical design
Certifications (Preferred)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months
- SolidWorks Professional certification
