Product Engineer

Location: Fresno, CA
FLSA Classification: Exempt / Salaried
California Compensation Range: $75,000 – $115,000
(Compensation is determined by a combination of an individual’s relevant work experience and educational requirements.)


Purpose

The Product Engineer at Trillium Flow Technologies is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing innovative pump solutions and manufacturing processes. This role focuses on enhancing product quality, efficiency, and sustainability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver cost-effective, high-performance solutions from concept through production.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve engineering designs, including manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, general arrangement drawings, bills of materials, manuals, performance curves, procedures, and instructions.
  • Coordinate design activities across multiple locations, including international design centers.
  • Execute engineering work for customer orders, including new designs, calculations, drawings, BOMs, technical documentation, and test curves.
  • Create innovative designs for new pump models, configurations, and product lines.
  • Support Project Engineering and Application Engineering teams to ensure customer orders are technically complete and accurate.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, assembly, testing, purchasing, planning, quality, sales, and aftermarket service teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in collaboration with manufacturing teams.
  • Support the introduction of new product designs into production, including prototypes, first article inspections, and resolving design/production issues.
  • Assist field service teams in diagnosing and resolving field issues.
  • Maintain and improve technical documentation, procedures, specifications, and product manuals.
  • Ensure accurate item master and BOM data in the ERP system.
  • Complete engineering activities related to engineering changes, non-conformances, and warranty/customer complaints.
  • Maintain and generate product performance curves and provide technical support to the test lab.
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to develop global supplier capabilities.
  • Drive cost reduction and value enhancement through continuous design improvements and VA/VE initiatives.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor products to drive innovation.
  • Develop engineering standards, mentor junior engineers/interns, and promote a collaborative team culture.
  • Observe all safety and ISO 9001/14001 Requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in product engineering or engineering development in a manufacturing environment, ideally in the pump or fluid handling industry.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of general engineering principles and their practical application.
  • Proficient in CAD/PLM/CAE systems; experience with Creo, Windchill, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and SolidWorks PDM preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Experience with engineering drawings, GD&T, BOMs, and technical documentation in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with centrifugal pumps, pump systems, and hydraulic design is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to pump design and manufacturing.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment will vary. In certain areas of the facility, personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs.
