Business Need / Purpose of Role:

As a Product Engineer, the purpose is to design, develop, and optimize innovative pump solutions and manufacturing processes that enhance product quality, efficiency, and sustainability. The Product Engineer aims to collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that meet customer needs while minimizing costs and maximizing productivity, ensuring a seamless transition from concept to production.

Objectives & Measurement

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities: (results this role is expected to accomplish)

Including but not limited to:

Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the engineering design of products including manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, general arrangement drawings, bill of materials, operation & maintenance manuals, performance curves, procedures, and instructions.
Coordinate design activities involving design centers in different physical locations (including international locations).
Develop comprehensive solutions and complete engineering work required for customer orders including new designs, drawings, calculations, bill of materials, technical documentation, test curves and technical support.
Develop innovative designs and product structures for new pump models, configurations, and product lines.
Support the Project Engineer & Application Engineering teams in executing customer order projects, provide technical support and assist in ensuring orders are complete and accurate before being released to production.
Provide technical support and collaborate with manufacturing, assembly, testing, purchasing, planning, quality, sales, and aftermarket service.
Troubleshoot issues that arise during the production process and work with manufacturing teams to resolve them.
Support the introduction of new product designs into production including prototypes, first article inspections, first article assemblies, and resolving design and production issues.
Support field service in diagnosing and correcting field issues.
Develop, maintain, and continuously improve technical instructions, procedures, specifications, and product manuals.
Create and maintain accurate item master and bill of materials in the ERP system.
Complete all engineering activities associated with the required engineering change process, non-conformance process, and warranty/customer complaint process.
Maintain product performance curves, create curves for customer order tests and provide technical test lab support.
Work with supply chain team to develop global supplier capabilities for all products.
Reduce product cost and increase value using continuous design improvements and VA/VE activities involving cross functional teams.
Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor products to drive innovation and ensure product competitiveness.
Develop engineering standards, provide mentorship and support to engineers/interns, and foster a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.
Observe all safety and ISO 9001/14001 Requirements.
Responsible for adhering to the organization’s code of conduct, time and attendance and all other company policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.

Compensation: $75,000 - 115,000

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a preference in Mechanical Engineering.
Work Experience: 5-10+ years of experience preferred in product engineering or engineering development within a manufacturing setting, ideally in the pump or fluids handling industry.
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certificate / P.E. license strongly preferred.
Expert understanding of general engineering principles and their application.
Strong working knowledge of CAD / PLM / CAE systems. Desired experience with: Creo, Windchill, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and SolidWorks PDM tools.
Working knowledge of ERP systems.
Experience with engineering drawings, GD&T, product design, BOMs, and technical solutions within a manufacturing environment.
Experience with centrifugal pumps, pump systems, and hydraulic design is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proven track record of effective teamwork.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for successful interaction with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices relevant to pump design and manufacturing.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment will vary. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs.
