Position Overview
The Machinist I-III is a highly skilled role responsible for independently performing complex machining operations with precision, safety, and efficiency. This position supports Trillium Flow Technologies’ mission to deliver reliable and innovative flow solutions by producing and repairing critical pump components. The Machinist III serves as a technical expert in multiple machining areas and mentors less experienced team members, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities

Set Up and Operation: Independently set up and operate a variety of machine tools, including engine lathes, vertical turret lathes, mills, and drill presses—with or without the aid of DRO or computer-assisted equipment.

Multi-Cell Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in at least two machining work cells and assist in optimizing their performance.

Mentorship and Training: Support the development of junior machinists by providing guidance, on-the-job training, and sharing best practices.

Planning and Execution: Plan and sequence machining operations for complex components, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the manufacturing process.

Blueprint and Specification Interpretation: Read and interpret intricate blueprints, sketches, and specifications to produce parts that meet tight tolerances.

Quality and Problem-Solving: Machine parts to exacting standards with minimal defects; identify, diagnose, and correct potential quality or process issues.

Tooling Maintenance: Replace and maintain cutting tools, drills, taps, and grinding tools as required; perform basic maintenance on equipment to ensure operational reliability.

Safety and Compliance: Adhere strictly to Trillium’s safety standards, including proper use of PPE, lockout/tagout, and environmental procedures (ISO 9001/14001).

Documentation: Accurately record production data, labor hours, and quality checks through digital or manual systems.

Housekeeping and Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area to ensure a safe and efficient environment for all employees.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and peers to support continuous improvement in quality, safety, and efficiency.

Other Duties: Perform additional assignments as needed to support operational and business goals.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.

3–5 years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing or repair environment.

Completion of a technical machinist certification or equivalent experience required.
Knowledge & Skills

Strong understanding of machining practices, metal properties, and tolerancing principles.

Intermediate to advanced skill in blueprint reading, measurement, and inspection techniques.

Ability to set up and operate multiple types of machinery with minimal supervision.

Skilled in troubleshooting machining issues and implementing corrective actions.

Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.

Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, teamwork, and continuous learning.
Work Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing and machining environment with variable noise levels.

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection is required.

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt / Hourly
Compensation Range: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience and level)
