Lead Material Handler

Location: Fresno, CA
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt / Hourly
Hourly Compensation Range: $24.00 – $27.00
(Compensation is based on years of relevant experience and skillset level.)

Job Summary

The Lead Material Handler is responsible for performing a wide range of material handling and inventory control activities to support production schedules and customer on-time delivery. This role provides day-to-day leadership to the material handling team and is instrumental in maintaining efficient warehouse operations, accurate inventory levels, and effective material flow throughout the facility. The Lead Material Handler works closely with cross-functional teams to support overall supply chain and operational goals.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Including, but not limited to:

  • Assist in leading the material handling team to ensure accurate inventory of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), manufactured parts, purchased parts, and assemblies in accordance with dispatch reports, bills of material (BOMs), pick lists, customer orders (COs), purchase orders (POs), stock sheets, backorder reports, stock requisitions, and job order lists (JOLs)

  • Coordinate the transfer, transport, staging, and stocking of materials to support production and shipping requirements

  • Monitor shortage reports and fill material shortages as soon as incoming material becomes available; escalate material constraints and risks as needed

  • Review daily Dispatch Lists in coordination with Production Planning to support on-time delivery of customer orders and job orders to Shipping

  • Partner with Assembly teams to support timely completion of assembly schedules and communicate material priorities and availability

  • Work collaboratively with Manufacturing, Planning, Purchasing, Shipping, and other departments to ensure material availability for schedule adherence

  • Perform required ERP system transactions, including material receipts, cycle counts, stock adjustments, part and location maintenance, and inventory corrections

  • Perform cycle counts of assigned items and participate in physical inventories; investigate and support resolution of inventory discrepancies

  • Handle hazardous materials in accordance with established procedures and maintain required HAZMAT training and certifications

  • Observe and comply with all ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements, as well as all safety and quality procedures

  • Adhere to the organization’s code of conduct, time and attendance policies, and all company policies and procedures

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in receiving, warehouse, or logistics roles preferred

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in a lead, training, or leadership role preferred

  • Forklift and crane operation certification required

  • Demonstrated working knowledge across product lines

  • Strong understanding of receiving processes, inventory management, and material handling equipment

  • Proficient in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
