Cost Accountant

Job Summary:

The Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining and analyzing manufacturing cost data to support operational and financial decision-making. This role ensures accuracy in inventory valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS), and production variances. The Cost Accountant works closely with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to develop meaningful insights into manufacturing performance, cost drivers, and profitability across Trillium Flow Technologies’ Fresno facility and related operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with AI tools and automation technologies to optimize cost accounting processes and improve operational efficiency
• Work with cross-functional staff, participate in financial reviews, including variance analysis, labor analysis and the preparation of timely, accurate and complete forecasts.
• Develop the standards change process with input from operations in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
• Development of the company’s direct labor and overhead rates, in compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
• Update finance margin in the system for open orders. Help in forecasting the margin for budget and mid-month.
• Participate in the company’s physical inventory, reconcile the inventory counts, prepare and post necessary entries.
• Monitor all activity in inventory accounts, review, suggest and formulate appropriate processes to minimize risk in inventory management.
• Prepare, review and submit financial statistics and overview necessary for capital expenditure approval in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
• Prepare inventory obsolescence analysis.
• Maintain the Backlog Report and monitor execution trends.
• Review open orders to ensure timely closing for both customer and R&D orders
• Observe all safety and ISO 14001, 45001 and 9001Requirements.
• Responsible for adhering to the organization’s code of conduct, time and attendance and all other company policies and procedures. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Cost Accounting or working in an accounting role in a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
• CPA or CMA preferred (preferred). 
• Excellent verbal and writing skills.
• Proficient with Excel, Power BI, and other MS office products.
• Experience in using AI to optimize processes preferred.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment will vary. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs.

FLSA Classification:  Exempt/Salaried 

Annual Compensation:  $75,000 - $115,000
